The Pinniped Cognition and Sensory Systems Laboratory at UC Santa Cruz explores the sensory, cognitive, behavioral ecology, and physiology of marine mammals. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals for the 2020 spring internship (February 3rd-June 5th 2020). This is an intensive, 4-month, 5-day-a-week opportunity for recent college graduates with an interest in marine mammalogy, bioacoustics, comparative cognition, and/or animal husbandry. A general overview of the research project can be found on our project website, http://pinnipedlab.ucsc.edu. Interns complete a rigorous apprenticeship program followed by immersion in all aspects of ongoing research with seals and sea lions. This internship will require applicants to be wet, dirty, and outdoors in all weather conditions. This position is unfunded; housing is not provided and interns must provide their own transportation to and from Long Marine Laboratory each day.
