Welcome to the webpage for the Alaska Student Chapter of the Society for Marine Mammalogy (AKSMM)! Our chapter was founded to the community of marine mammal graduate and undergraduate students in the state of Alaska.
Research in Alaska poses a set of unique challenges and part of our goal as a chapter is to assist each other in overcoming these issues. We host quarterly meetings where we discuss these issues, invite researchers to speak, and to coordinate chapter activities. It is the ultimate goal of the AKSMM to foster a sense of comradery and collaboration in a state where we are stretched far and wide.
Our chapter is open to all Alaskan student researchers. Check out our Website and Facebook group page for more information: https://smmalaskastudent.wixsite.com/home and https://www.facebook.com/groups/978971922192783/
