Careers in Marine Mammal Science

The field of marine mammal science continues to be one of great appeal. However, many students are not fully aware of what the field entails or are unsure of the best way to get involved.
This developing page will soon address questions commonly asked by students seeking a career in marine mammal science, as well as provide suggestions for planning education and work experience.
In the meantime, let us refer you to the lab website of SMM President Dr. Andy Read, who humorously but honestly responds to the question, "So you want to work with marine mammals?"
For a dose of inspiration, read through the text of a presentation SMM Past President Dr. John Reynolds made at the 1999 Student Affairs Workshop entitled "Surviving professional puberty in marine mammalogy: things mom and dad didn't tell you."
